Today I’m sharing sad news.  In May we all searched for a wandering albatross for a young man called Jacob.  His sister, Lauren, asked if we could find a replacement as ‘Albie’ had been lost, and he was very special to Jacob.  We found one.

On the 1st of August Jacob passed away. He had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a terminal muscle-wasting disease.

Jacob was 21, and he lived with his Mum Claire, Dad Darren, and doting big sister Lauren. He has an older brother, Jordon.

Jacob loved drawing, he was a talented gamer and a big fan of comic books.

Lauren shared Jacob’s eulogy with me and said I can share it with you all. It is beautiful and moved me to tears, but honestly, I think these few words from his sister say everything that needs to be said:

“I’m struggling so much at the moment to find words, as I said before Jacob has always been my best friend in the whole world – he was my whole world – and he was such a beautiful soul.”

We want to help Lauren and her parents. I don’t have to explain how much the family are going through right now, and they have been faced with a huge amount of costs they hoped they would never have to cover. I have started a fundraiser for them, they can use the money to help with the costs, or they can use the money to help them as a family – maybe a break away from the home so they can spend time together, to look after each other.

If you are able to help with any amount I know they will be truly grateful for your kindness and generosity.

I am in regular contact with Lauren and the family are happy for this fundraiser to go ahead.
