Debs

Living in Kent with her husband Chris, Debs is a mum of three teenagers – each with their own collection of special needs and disabilities.  Life is never dull.
Over the years, Debs has set up local groups, local charities, parent forums and national SEND projects. She has written blogs, delivered training and keynote speeches to a variety of parents, practitioners and Government leaders – both here in the UK and internationally.
She is the co-founder of the brilliant BAPS Awards and loves the excitement this causes every year when parents hear they have been nominated by other parents for helping them with their daily struggle.
She is also the founder and co-organiser of Kent’s annual inclusive live music festival – Festability – and runs this along with two other SEND mums with thousands of people attending each year.

Debs’ passion has always been about helping the parents and is happiest when sharing her experiences, networks and knowledge with families.  She has first hand knowledge and knows the positive impact  of offering good support to parents and now provides coaching and online training via Life As-Pland in addition to mentoring and delivering training to providers who work with families.
Debs is also a Parent Governor and always has new ideas for other projects going on in the background – she is currently working on a few.  Debs tries to ensure that anything she creates is something she knows parents are asking for, rather than something she thinks parents may like.  As a mum of three SEND children, she just wishes that this was more common practice.
